The Sutherland Theatre Company is holding open auditions for our March production of Ronald Harwood’s poignant comedy Quartet. We are looking for four older actors (two male and two female) for this production.
Auditions will be held on Sunday 10 December at 2pm and Thursday 14 December at 7:30pm in Sutherland.
Cecily, Reggie and Wilfred reside in a home for retired opera singers in Kent, England. Each year, on the tenth of October, there is a concert to celebrate Verdi’s birthday. Jean, who used to be married to Reggie, arrives at the home and disrupts their equilibrium. She still acts like a diva and refuses to sing. But the show must go on in this funny and poignant play by the author of Another Time, The Dresser and Interpreters.
The production will be staged at the Sutherland Memorial School of Arts from March 2 – 11, 2018. As we are a community theatre company, all roles are unpaid.
Cecily – female, stage age 60+. A bubbly, excitable retired opera singer with a hint of dementia.
Reggie – male, stage age 60+. Withdrawn and serious. Likes order and structure in his life.
Wilfred – male, stage age 60+. A randy old man with a wicked sense of humour.
Jean – female, stage age 60+. A tactless, overbearing, self-centered diva.
