A sinister con man and two ex-convicts have traced the location of a doll, which contains a hidden substance of great value, to the Greenwich Village apartment of Sam Hendrix and his blind wife, Susy. Sam had apparently been persuaded by a strange woman to transport the doll across the Canadian border. However, after the woman turns up murdered, matters become more urgent. The con man and his ex-convicts, through a cleverly constructed deception, convince Susy that the police have implicated Sam in the women’s murder, and the doll, which she believes is the key to his innocence, is evidence. But just how far will Susy fall into their sinister web of lies and deceit?

·      SUSY (female, 30-35) – wife to Sam who is blind as a result of a previous accident. Bored by her mundane life, she unknowingly becomes the pawn of the deception. A LARGE ROLE.

·      ROAT (male, 40+) – a murderous and deceitful con man, the “mastermind” of the operation. Good at characterisation. A LARGE ROLE.

·      MIKE (male, 30+) – tall and rugged ex-convict who ends up sympathising with Suzy during his involvement in the deception. A LARGE ROLE.

·      CARLINO (male, 40+) – a clumsy ex-convict who is more brains than brawn. Masquerades as a police detective for most of the play. A MEDIUM ROLE.

·      GLORIA (female, 12-15) – Susy’s neighbour who is immature to some extent. Assists Susy on a regular basis and becomes more integral as the play progresses.  A MEDIUM ROLE.

·      SAM (male, 30-35) – ex-Marine turned photographer, husband to Susy. Spends most of the play away on assignment. A SMALL ROLE.

·      POLICEMEN (male/female, 30+) – a VERY SMALL ROLE at the end of the play.

·      POLICEMEN (male/female, 30+) – a VERY SMALL ROLE at the end of the play.
