Character Breakdown:

Principal Roles

Elle Woods (Gb3 – G5 soprano belt)

The quintessential Valley Girl who follows her ex-boyfriend to Harvard Law School and realises that she has more to offer than just a pretty face and a

bubbly personality. A strong belt is essential, also ideally will be comfortable with being kissed on stage. Also must be willing to be/become blonde.

Emmett Forrest (B2 – A4 tenor)

A smart and sensitive law student who takes Elle under his wing and helps her learn the value of hard work. He is charming, quirky, lovable, and

friendly. A strong emotive role requiring some great comedic timing. Ideally comfortable with a stage kiss.

Warner Huntington III (Eb3 – Ab4 tenor)

A good-looking but shallow and pompous guy who breaks Elle’s heart and heads off to Harvard Law. Extremely confident and self assured. Vocal agility

and the ability to riff is a must. Ideally comfortable with being kissed on stage.

Paulette Buonofuonte (A3 – A5 soprano belt)

A brash, caring, optimistic hair stylist who is friends with Elle and longs to find a man for herself. A great role for a comedic actor/singer. A strong Boston

accent and good comedic timing is ideal, but willing to workshop.

Professor Callahan (A2 – F#4 baritone)

A pompous, sleazy and manipulative law professor at Harvard who is highly successful, but completely immoral. Despite the sleaze, Callahan is smooth

as butter and willing to do whatever it takes to get what he wants. Seeking an actor between the ages of 30 and 50.

Vivienne Kensington (A3 – F5 Soprano belt)

A smart, savvy, and uptight law student and Warner’s fiance who initially dismisses Elle, but soon sees the strength of her character. A massive belt is

useful for this role.

Brooke Wyndham (A3 – G5 Alto/Soprano)

An exercise video mogul who is also a former sorority girl. She is energetic, charismatic and currently on trial for murder. Another role for which belting is a must. Get ready to jump rope a lot!

Ensemble + Supporting Roles

Lumina is looking for approximately  20 (12 women + 8 men) strong dancers and singers to be involved in our exciting and active chorus. Legally Blonde is a physically and vocally demanding show so be prepared to have a lot of fun while also working hard and fast!

Ensemble members will also play the following supporting roles;

Greek Chorus: Pilar, Margot, Serena (G#3 – F5 belt)

Elle’s closest friends who appear to her at times of great need. Ideally seeking strong dancers with good comedic timing and comfort singing in parts.

Enid Hoops (G3 – G5)

Headstrong and opinionated, demands great comedic timing and ability to sing lots of words quite quickly.

Kyle B. O’Boyle (non-singing)

The physically fit and smooth-talking UPS delivery-man, also the man of Paulette’s dreams. Any experience with Irish dance would be amazing!

Most, if not all ensemble members will get an opportunity to play a small part in the show, so bring a lot of energy and have fun in your audition!
