Katherina (the shrew) – female, mid-20’s; willingness to learn some fight choreography and be physical.
Baptista – female, 40’s/50’s; tough biker, mother to Katherina and Bianca.
Bianca – female, early 20’s; willingness to learn some fight choreography. Demure, but forthright. • . . . Widow – female, 30’s/40’s; also works behind the bar during the play.
Petruchio – male, mid-20’s; willingness to learn some fight choreography and be physical
Lucentio – male, early 20’s; sweet and earnest and a touch naïve.
Tranio – male, 20’s-40’s; Lucentio’s servant
Hortensio – male, 30’s; suitor to Bianca. A mafioso type.
Gremio – male, 50’s-60’s; elderly suitor to Bianca. Also a mafioso type.
Vincentio – male, 50’s; father to Lucentio and the meanest gangster of them all.
Open age and gender (NB: Many roles will be subject to doubling)
Grumio – Petruchio’s servant, comic relief.
Biondello – Lucentio’s servant
Curtis, Nathaniel, Joseph, Peter, Nicholas and Philip – servants of Petruchio
Officer, Pedant, Tailor, Haberdasher
You will be required to complete a cold read, as well as a short, prepared Shakespearean piece (monologue or sonnet).

The Play Shed is next to the car park behind Merthyr Road Uniting Church, 52 Merthyr Rd New Farm. Access is via the path next to the church or via Amity Street
Season: May 12th – June 3rd
Rehearsals: Two weeknights and one weekend rehearsal each week; additional for tech/production week.
